BB Tax & Advisory is a full service bookkeeping, accounting and financial advisory firm specializing in the complex needs of small businesses owners and middle-class families. Our goal was to create a well organized User Experience to showcase the clients various specialties in a clean, sophisticated way. Our targets were middle class families, small businesses and retired couples.
THE BRIEF
Create a well organized user experience and sophisticated-looking website that showcased the client’s wide spectrum of specialities.
THE CHALLENGE
Creating a UX that efficiently organized the large amount of information, graphs and specialities offered by the client.
WHAT I DID
I art directed and produced the entire website and graphics. I created all the wireframes which were crucial in organizing the site’s content.
Research & Development
After receiving the brief from the client, my first step was to research the current competition to get develop a full understanding of the current market. Since we were dealing with a lot of information for the user to navigate through, I proposed a clean and professional look that catered to a hierarchy of categories to narrow down the user’s search options.
Site Map
Our site map helped to identify what were the main needs of our user and how to organize the various sub-services we offered. Once we got this down, we were able to plan ahead for any missing content or assets such as infographics.
Wireframes
I wireframed all the pages of the site in an effort to segment and distribute the large amount of information. I was mindful of not overwhelming the user with a complex UI. As with all wireframes, this was where we identified where we would make use of images, graphs and secondary navigations.
Design
I proposed a clean, sober and corporate art direction. This was due to the fact that we are dealing with peoples’ and business’ financial planning and wanted to instill a sense of trust, safety and expertise. I used blue as the color of security and trust as well as beige to give it a conservative, contrasting color.
Mock Ups
After finalizing the wireframes I applied the content and branding elements to create high-fidelity mock ups. This project highlights the importance of putting strategy before design. A well planned out UX will always benefit the interface design.
